Manager, Finance (Infrastructure)

The Brookfield Infrastructure Group is one of Brookfield Asset Management’s primary operating platforms. The Infrastructure Group operates and manages over $50 billion of assets owned through its listed and unlisted investment vehicles. Our portfolio is comprised of long-life, high quality infrastructure assets with high barriers to entry that generate stable and growing cash flows. Our portfolio of infrastructure assets are primarily in the utilities, transport, energy and communication infrastructure sectors, located in North and South America, Europe and Australasia.

 

The Manager, Finance is a key member of the Infrastructure Americas Asset Management team, reporting directly to the Director, Finance. The objective of the team is to partner effectively with operating businesses and internal stakeholders to drive performance, generate value, and act as a trusted resource on complex financial matters.  The incumbent is accountable for supporting the Director, Finance in continuing to build a ‘best in class’ finance function, and handling all finance/accounting matters pertaining to the operating platform.

 

Primary responsibilities include: providing high-quality financial analysis; track and analyze performance against plans; collaboration with asset managers and operating businesses in support of asset valuation and business planning processes; oversight of quarterly IFRS financial reporting; new asset onboarding; and strategic analysis for initiatives underway at the operating businesses. 

 

The incumbent will frequently interact with various finance teams (operating companies, Brookfield Infrastructure private and public funds), and key stakeholders throughout the Brookfield Infrastructure organization.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast paced environment, has excellent communication skills, possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity, is business savvy, and has a strong finance/accounting foundation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely, high-quality financial analysis (results and liquidity forecasting, growth capital and backlog analysis, KPI analysis, etc) to enable sound decision making
  • Direct involvement in annual business planning and valuation processes for the Americas platform, including review and data manipulation of complex financial models
  • Preparation and presentation of quarterly results presentation to Brookfield senior management
  • Oversight and sign-off of quarterly/annual financial reporting submissions by operating assets, and preparation of opening balance sheets using purchase price accounting
  • Thorough understanding of operating businesses to be able to explain performance and strategic issues in a clear, concise manner
  • Onboarding and integration of new assets into Brookfield finance and accounting processes
  • Trusted resource to operating businesses and internal stakeholders on finance and accounting matters
  • Frequent communication with the finance teams of operating assets and of Brookfield Infrastructure
  • Identify ways to improve and streamline processes in the context of a growing operating platform
  • Strategic ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required

 

Requirements:

  • CA or CPA designation with Big 4 experience and at least 5 years of progressive work experience; non-audit (i.e. advisory) experience ideal but not required
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative;
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development;
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including comfort interacting with senior executives;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability; willingness to “dive into the details”;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities;
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to review financial models;
  • Excellent academic track record
